Meet Jetmalew and Friends!

We're all looking forward to meeting Jetmalew and friends with local author and illustrator Vicki Orwin at The Harvey Briggs Onchan Library on Saturday 10th Oct from 10.30 - 12.30. Vicki will be reading from her new book, signing copies, and there will be Jetmalew themed activities to make and do. There's also a hunt around the library with a signed copy of Jetmalew's Island Adventures as a prize! 

RETIREMENT BLUES GOODBYE!

Pop in this Saturday to meet Richard Cowley, and be inspired by his answer to retirement. He made it into a life changing journey through walking Coast to Coast across Britain, and then publishing an entertaining account of his experiences in 'Retirement Blues Goodbye'  Copies will be available for signing, alongside Richard's art work on display in the library, and refreshments will be served.

Richard Cowley has spent more than forty years living 'Down Under', and now calls Australia home, and The Isle of Man his homeland. He will shortly be returning to Australia, so we are delighted to have this opportunity to feature his work before he leaves.

Thank You to Chris Ewan

A huge thank you to author Chris Ewan for such an excellent evening at Onchan Library as part of our themed Food for Thought season of talks. Crime and cookies were on the menu as Chris gave an entertaining insight into how he came to write his award winning mystery series - The Good Thief’s Guide.  The guides feature the crime writer Charlie Howard, a good hearted thief with a droll sense of humour. 

The Good Thief’s Guide to Amsterdam’ and ‘The Good Thief’s Guide to Paris’ have both been short listed for CrimeFest Last Laugh Awards. 

Charlie’s exploits then took Chris to Las Vegas, and he’s currently working on Berlin. 

‘The Good Thief’s Guide to Venice’ is being published in April, and can be pre-ordered from Onchan Library, or from local book shops.

September - Events - Crumpets with Derry

Well known commentator with the World famous Purple Helmets, Derry Kissack, is coming to talk at Onchan Library as part of the 'Food for Thought' season. As well as entertaining reminiscences, Derry will also be talking about how he came to write his book. Tea & crumpets will be served (Derry's with Edam cheese please).
